Wide Recievers
The Wideout class this year such be stronger than last years that didn't see a single Reciever drafted until round 2. There should be 1 drafted in the top 10 this year, along with another 3 or 4 drafted in the 1st or 2nd rounds. Height, weight, 40-yard dash times, verticals, and some broadjumps are listed below.
1. Michael Crabtree - Texas Tech
6'1 215, 4.49 (projected)
projected: top 10 pick
overall: Crabtree was the premier wide reciever in college football and rightly so. He's a great route runner, catches everything thrown his way, and racks up major run after catch yardage. Unfortunately, he's recovering from surgery so he wasn't able to run his 40 or anything. Still, I don't believe it will hurt his stock. Crabtree doesn't have blazing speed but his intangibles he brings are off the charts so there's very little to make me believe he will be a bust.
2. Jeremy Maclin - Missouri
6'0 198, 40-yd dash: 4.43, vertical leap: 35.5 in, broadjump: 10-0
projected: 1st round
overall: Maclin is a dynamic reciever who can take it for a touchdown every time he touches the ball. Also an electrifying return man in college. He's a real wild card as to where he could be drafted: it's anywhere from #7 to the end of the 1st round. Should be a solid reciever if he can improve route running and catching. Would be great on a team that would double him as a return guy and a 2nd reciever.
3. Kenny Britt - Rutgers
6'3 218, 40-yd dash: 4.47, vertical leap: 37 in, broadjump: 10-4
projected: 1st-2nd round
overall: Britt is a big reciever who could be a vital redzone target in the NFL. Big body who can outjump defenders with ease. Really came on near the end of the season last year at Rutgers. Unfortunately, the knock on Britt is that he struggles separating himself from quick cornerbacks.
4. Percy Harvin - Florida
6'0 193, 40-yd dash: 4.41, vertical leap: 37.5 in, broadjump: 10-1
projected: early 2nd round
overall: Harvin is a reciever with blazing speed. Played all over the place on offense at University of Florida. Hurt by the fact he is a raw route runner. Will take some time to develop.
5. Darius Heyward-Bey - Maryland
6'2 210, 40-yd dash: 4.3, vertical leap: 38.5 in, broadjump: 10-6
projected: early 2nd round
overall: Heyward-Bey is your classic case of draft stock shooting up because of a monster combine. No question Heyward-Bey is a straight up gifted athlete (solid size with a 4.3 40). However, the knock on him has always been he hasn't used his athleticism to full potential on the field. When i see Heyward-Bey, I think of Vernon Davis. Hey, hopefully i'm wrong.
6. Hakeem Nicks - North Carolina
6'1 212, 40-yd dash: 4.49 (stock sliding)
projected: 2nd round
overall: Nicks has seen since stock slide recently. Apparently he needed surgery and hasn't been able to work out in weeks and therefore ballooned up to 225. He should be ok though, other than the fact it's costing him some cash. Nicks runs routes well and catches everything in sight. Shined in the biggest of game for North Carolina last year. His combo of good speed and catching ability I believe will make him a steal in round 2.
7. Brian Robiskie - Ohio st
6'3 209, 40-yd dash: 4.49, vertical leap: 37.5 in
projected: 2nd round
overall: I don't know what it really is for sure, but I really like Robiskie. He has NFL pedigree in his blood (dad played), he catches everything, he's not afraid to go over the middle, and runs routes well. Moreover, he's a very smart reciever. Big frame (6'3) will really help. Of course the knock on him is that he doesn't separate from defenses well. I believe if a team uses him right by not having him do too much, his catching and route running ability will offset those separation problems.
8. Juaquin Iglesias - Oklahoma
6'1 210, 40-yard dash: 4.51
overall: 2nd-3rd round
notes: was Oklahoma's leading reciever the past 2 seasons...speed concerns hurt stock..has Pro day coming up to improve himself
9. Pat White - West Virginia
6'0 197, 40-yd dash: 4.49, vertical leap: 35 in, hand size: 9.25
projected: 2nd-3rd round
notes: One of college football's most dynamic players...can play reciever or Quarterback at next level...very important that he finds a team with the right fit who will use him the right way
10. Derrick Williams - Penn st
6'0 194, 40-yd dash: 4.37, broadjump: 9-7 (on rise)
projected: 3rd round
notes: Electrifying speed reciever and return man...still very raw in his recieving skills
11. Louis Murphy - Florida
6'3 207, 40-yd dash: 4.43
projected: 3rd round
notes: Intriging prospect with good size and speed
12. Ramses Barden - Cal Poly SLO
6'6 227, 40-yd dash: 4.51, broadjump: 10-2 (on rise)
projected: 3rd-4th round
notes: Aside from having a cool name, Barden is a huge target with pretty decent speed...should be big in the redzone
13. Mike Wallace - Ole Miss
6'0 199, 40-yd dash: 4.33, vertical leap: 40 in, broadjump: 10-9
projected: 4th round
notes: bigtime athlete at the reciever position...can also return kicks
14. Mike Thomas - Arizona
5'8 195, 40-yd dash: 4.4, vertical leap: 40.5 in, broadjump: 10-6
projected: 4th-5th round
notes: athletic reciever who led his team in receptions last year...could be excellent in the slot
15. Brandon Gibson - Washington st
6'0 206, 40-yd dash: 4.58, vertical leap: 34 in, broadjump: 9-5 (declining)
projected: 4th-5th round
notes: One of the few bright spots on an otherwise horrible Washington st team...stock is declining citing athleticism and speed concerns.
16. Austin Collie - BYU
6'1 200, 40-yd dash: 4.53
projected: 4th-5th round
notes: Starred at BYU as reciever and kickoff return man...speed is a concern..will more be a role player
17. Aaron Kelly - Clemson
6'5 204, 40-yd dash: 4.49, vertical leap: 38 in
projected: 5th round
notes: Big athletic reciever who will be a redzone target...concerns about hands and overall speed...in my opinion, should be rated a bit higher
18. Johnny Knox - Abeleine Christian
6'0 185, 40-yd dash: 4.34, broadjump: 10-2
projected: 5th round
notes: I-AA prospect with unreal speed...possible sleeper
19. Mohamed Massaquoi - Georgia
6'2 207, 40-yd dash: 4.51, broadjump: 10-7
projected: 5th round
notes: leading reciever at Georgia the past 2 years...consistantly decent in college, but did not explode on the scene like expected...long strider who is not as fast as could be
20. Kevin Ogletree - Virginia
6'1 196, 40-yd dash: 4.45, broadjump: 10-2
projected: 5th round
notes: Injury-riddled career in college at Virginia...good raw prospect with good speed if he can stay healthy
21. Deon Butler - Penn st
5'10 182, 40-yd dash: 4.38, vertical leap: 37 in
projected: 5th round
notes: small reciever that was probably the most consistant of the 3 Penn st recievers....great 40 time but may need to add on extra weight
22. Andrew Means - Indiana
6'1 213, 40-yd dash: 4.36 (on rise)
projected: 5th round
notes: Came out of nowhere to run a great 40 that has cause his stock to rise considerably
23. Tiquan Underwood - Rutgers
6'1 178, 40-yd dash: 4.36, vertical leap: 41.5 in, broadjump: 10-9
projected: 5th-6th round
notes: was a steady underneath reciever in college...showed great speed and separates from defenders easily
24. Marko Mitchell - Nevada
6'4 213, 40-yd dash: 4.46, vertical leap: 32.5 in, broadjump: 10-3
projected: 5th-6th round
notes: Big target (6'4) with good enough speed...very raw
25. Brooks Foster - North Carolina
6'1 212, 40-yd dash: 4.44
projected: 5th-6th round
notes: overshadowed by fellow recievers Nicks and Tate while at UNC...shows promise..not afraid to go over the middle
26. Jared Dillard - Rice
5'11 187, 40-yd dash: 4.5, vertical leap: 42.5 in, broadjump: 10-11
projected: 5th-6th round
notes: Set records for receptions and TD's in college....smaller frame, but showed major athleticism in his workouts
27. Jeremy Gilchrist - Hampton
5'10 177, 40-yd dash: 4.45 (projected)
projected: 5th-6th round
notes: another slot reciever from a small school
28. Jamarko Simmons - West. Michigan
6'2 231, 40-yd dash: 4.50, vertical leap: 33 in, broadjump: 9-11
projected: 5th-6th round
notes: Huge recieving target at 231 who actually threw up a decent 40 time...very limited reciever but shows some potential
29. Michael Jones - Arizona st
6'4 211, 40-yd dash: 4.54, vertical leap: 36.5 in, broadjump: 10-7
projected: 5th-6th round
notes: I know what your thinking "there's noway all these recievers get drafted in the 5th or 6th rounds" Well, there's nothing really to separate them at this point so for now, this is how it is......anyways, Jones is another big target at 6'4 and is a long strider
30. Brandon Tate - North Carolina
6'0 183, 40-yd dash: 4.64, broadjump: 10-6
projected: 6th round
notes: Was a solid reciever and return man at North Carolina before he went down with a serious injury...injury still a concern so Tate could be drafted anywhere from round 5 to maybe not getting drafted at all...ran really slow 40
31. Patrick Turner - USC
6'5 223, 40-yd dash: 4.62 40
projected: 6th round
notes: Big target who could develop into decent redzone target...didn't put up great numbers at USC...his 40 time hurt
32. Demetrius Byrd - LSU
6'0 199, 40-yd dash: 4.42, vertical leap: 35.5 in, broadjump: 9-9
projected: 6th round
notes: consistant reciever at LSU who's numbers dropped off a little bit last year...shows decent athleticism
33. Brennan Marion - Tulsa
5'11 187, 40-yd dash: 4.5 (projected)
projected: 6th round
notes: another smaller, quick reciever likely to play slot in the NFL
34. Kenny McKinley - South Carolina
6'0 189, 40-yd dash: 4.44, vertical leap: 37 in
projected: 6th-7th round
notes: good reciever who had a good career at South Carolina despite dealing with mediocre Quarterbacks...getting fair share of looks by scouts...possible sleeper
35. Lucas Taylor - Tennessee
5'11 189, 40-yd dash: 4.36, vertical leap: 36 in, broadjump: 10-6
projected: 6th-7th round
notes: did not benefit from the overall horrible season his Sr year at Tennessee...good speed
36. Darius Passmore - Marshall
6'1 189, 40-yd dash: 4.46, broadjump: 9-3
projected: 6th-7th round
notes: Would have benfited more from better results in his 40 and broadjump times
37. Quan Cosby - Texas
5'9 198, 40-yd dash: 4.48, vertical leap: 34.5 in
projected: 6th-7th round
notes: started for 3 years at Texas..first 2 years was overshadowed by Limas Sweed, last year overshadowed by Jordan Shipley...small frame limits possibilities
38. Sammy Stroughter - Oregon st
5'9 189, 40-yd dash: 4.45, vertical leap: 30 in
projected: 6th-7th round
notes: productive reciever at Oregon st for the past 2 years...height and lack of breakout speed will keep him in later rounds
